Next Steps & Completed Actions
1. Fund-raise and construct Community Learning Hub. Begin programs.
2. Purchase Food Forest materials for Demonstration Garden, Plant Nursery, and Compost (Green wall trees, Fruit trees, Ground Crops, Seedlings, Medicinal Herbs, Soil, etc.). Community Groups/volunteers will help to construct.
3. Orient and define clear terms of engagement among the Women and Youth groups identified (i.e., how to establish sustainable demonstration gardens, apprenticeship workshops, cost-and-revenue sharing, etc.,).
4. Work within the groups to define goals and actions for environmental conservation, relevant skills-based training, community action projects, and social entrepreneurship.
5. Begin Food Forest programs and Vocational skills training with identified groups. Introduce Food Forest demonstration gardens and apprenticeship workshops to act as a spring board for scaling the approach in the region.
Medium-term (2025-2026 Goals)

2. Create a safe swimming area. Begin swim lessons and youth-led boat safety.
3. Construct BFFF accommodation for tourists to stay, visit the land, and learn about - and contribute to - its programs.
4. Continue Documentary Film-making and Photo-journalism with Kashekye & Batwa communities (and beyond).
Ongoing Goals
1. Enrich linkages with local organizations and government(s) for mutual support, and to ensure agendas are reflected in local government plans.
2. Build trusting relationships with Batwa (Kyevu) community(ies) for BFFF Cultural Teachings and mutual, reciprocal benefit.
3. Establish global relations between Indigenous Peoples of Lake Bunyunyi (Uganda) and Coast Salish Peoples of British Columbia, Canada (where BFFF members reside).
4. Generate plan for sustainable, circular, financing of Food Forest Initiative.

- A Constitution to guide Bunyonyi Food Forest Foundation (BFFF) activities has been developed.
- BFFF has been registered as a Ugandan, Community Based Organization (CBO) - with six acting members - to streamline its operations.
- To secure, monitor, and manage community-based financing, a registered BFFF bank account has been established at Equity Bank, Uganda.
- One Women’s group in Kashekye area has been established. A partner relationship is currently underway for implementing the Food Forest Demonstrations Gardens on BFF Land.
- One Youth group in Kashekye has been established. A partner relationship is currently underway for training in Conservation and marketable Apprenticeship Skills.
- One Batwa group in Chevuwa has been established. Building relationships with Kashekye groups is a key next goal.
- A volunteer Mixed-gender group in Kashekye has been identified to assist with building construction, infrastructure, and BFFF plans and projects.
- Design plans for i) Bunyonyi Food Forest (through Fieldwork report), and ii) Landing Dock and Eco-San Latrines (by local Engineer) have been created.
- A Landing Dock has been constructed. Local community groups/volunteers assisted in construction.
- An Eco-san Latrine & Supply shed has been constructed. Local community groups/volunteers assisted in construction.
- Documentary with film-makers (King & Tash) and Kashekye & Batwa communities has begun. See video in It's Reel-Time
- BFFF Facebook page has been created (by BFFF member, Bridget).
